Marche is a region of central Italy, it is not well known, it is due to its location and because it is a transit region for everyone from north want to move in the most popular beaches as Gargano and Puglia. Nevertheless, it is a beautiful region this is saying from a Tuscan that moved here, almost by accident, 7 years ago and I loved this land immediately. The hills around the sea are carefully (olive tree, vine and other crops) and remind me Chianti’s hills. In addition, here there are many —– or villages inhabited by English, German and Dutch. They are growing Marcheshire like Chiantishire in Tuscan. Marche, also, is riches of art, beautiful building, and ancient villages. You need just a good guide and you will discover the Marche’s secrets. Underground is awesome, in fact you should go to the famous Grotte di Frasassi. They are light up by a lighting that stands out their beauty. A famous scenographer designed this type of lighting.
San Benedetto del Tronto is the last city of Marche, near of Abruzzo. It is into the Piceno’s heart. Piceno was famous since Roman time (Pompeo Magno was a Piceno). Here two are provinces: Ascoli Piceno and Fermo are two beautiful cities, rich of history, art and culture. It is impossible leave the region without visit these two jewelry. Equip yourself with a good guide and go to explore the land, rather not in summer when the coast start to become chaotic, but in spring and autumn when the region is able to give you beautiful days. Not only provinces deserve to be visited, but also the dozens of villages over the countryside, from Offida to Ripatransone, Torre di Palme, Moresco erc …. This is an excellent land for lovers of gastronomy, good white wines (Falerio, Pecorino – also in a sparkling wine version) and red wines (Rosso Piceno e Rosso Piceno Superiore), salami (ciauscolo – soft and spreadable salami, lonza, lonzino etc.… ) and awesome meet and fish dishes (Brodetto alla Sanbenedettese, stoccafisso all’anconetana, maccheroncini di Campofilone etc … ). Not only art, culture, gastronomy, but also industry. Piceno is the land’s shoe. Here there is the highest concentration shoe factory of Italy. The most famous fashion brands (Prada, Tod’s, Hogan, Dolce & Gabbana) have own shoe factory and outlet here. You should go between Casette d’Ete and Montegranaro if you want to see with your eyes the wonderful world of Italian shoe.
